Legion dashboard with the School, Training and Research departments in a constellation around MUNINN

Real Legion dashboard, running with fictional history and request.

Problem

Gathering information from several places, tracking deadlines and building a report takes hours every week, and it is easy to skip a step.

Solution

  • Agents organised in departments: school, training and research
  • Some run on their own every day at 6:30; others, when I ask
  • Reads grades, the school calendar, watch workouts and habits
  • Builds study guides and reports, and sends them by e-mail
  • Research with a critic that checks the sources before delivering
  • Dashboard with the agent map, costs and alerts, on the Mac and on the phone

How it works

  1. 1

    Collection

Every morning, the collectors fetch grades, the school calendar, watch workouts and habits.

  2. 2

    Scheduled tasks

Each agent runs at the right time. If the Mac was asleep, it runs on wake-up.

  3. 3

    Review

A critic agent checks the other's work and sends it back for fixes before delivering.

  4. 4

    Report

A finished document goes out by e-mail, from Legion's own account.

Integrated with MUNINN, the voice assistant.

Connections

  • MUNINNReceives the spoken requests and returns the answer for MUNINN to speak.
  • BoletimEvery day at 6:30, reads the grades from Boletim and, if there is a new one, comments and notifies.
  • Habits TrackerReads the routine and the sport goals; they are the yardstick for the weekly training report.

How it was built

Legion came after MUNINN, with the idea of several specialists commanded by one assistant. I started by defining the departments and what each agent would do, and only then developed them one at a time.

The list of agents lives in a single configuration file. To create a new agent, one entry there and the agent's file are enough; a checker makes sure nothing is out of place. Most agents are plain programs that fetch and organise data without AI. The AI only comes in at the end, when there is something new to interpret.

Every delivery was tested for real in my routine: weekly training report, study guides for exams, deadlines on the calendar, research with a critic. What did not serve was removed, like triathlon in the reports and agents that only existed to make up numbers. I also swapped Strava for the Garmin watch, where the workouts actually are, and the study summary, which arrived as text in an e-mail, became a PDF guide with cover, summary, exercises and answer key.

The map-shaped dashboard was designed over several rounds, until it was clean on the phone. Later, MUNINN started sending voice requests to Legion, which picks the specialist and returns the result for it to speak.

Where it stands today

Already works

  • Every morning: grades, school calendar, watch workouts and habits collected on their own
  • PDF study guides for exams, by e-mail
  • Research with a critic that checks the sources
  • Weekly training report and deadlines on the calendar
  • Dashboard on the computer and on the phone, and voice requests through MUNINN

Still missing or limited

  • The agents run on my computer: when it is off, they wait for it to turn on
  • The school portal login expires from time to time and must be renewed; Legion warns when it happens
  • Some agents only work when I ask, on purpose

My part

I decided the departments, the agents and the build order, and defined each agent's job. I tested every agent with real data, cut what did not help and made sure no password ever went into the code. I developed the programming with AI assistance.
